Topic of the Day
On the eve of 62 years of Independence what is exactly haunting India and pulling it back from being the No1 economy in the World?
Is it politics , poverty , overpopulation or illiteracy or is it something else? What is your say?

14-Aug-09 04:15 PM -- India is developed in terms of Satellite Launching capabilities but not in terms of Manned Commercial Space Flights.India is not developed as Female literacy is approx 58% as of now
Its politicians are not well educated
M.Tech, IITians, M.B.As with vision required
These blind mice politicians need to be phased out gradually
From 16 IITs we need to quadruple upto 64 IITs in India
Considering its population density & to acheive self reliance
Better National & Regional Intelligence capabilities development required
Strengthening of Press & Media required
Defence & Public-Private Joint ventures within the country required
Joint ventures between DRDO & ISRO would be like people's dream come true.
Seat in UN also required.
Nuclear Power Production in India which has a glorious past
related to non-first usage tendencies etc... unlike U.S.A / Japan required
Defence is excellent in India

14-Aug-09 04:12 PM -- Where is the long-term strategic plan to create millions of jobs every year? What measures are we taking to tackle the omnipresent demon of corruption? What are our chances of getting MPs/ministers with no criminal record? What is our plan to achieve decentralised, uniform industrial development spread across the country? How are we going to control the ticking bomb of population? What are we doing to prevent female infanticide? What are the measures taken to achieve 100 percent literacy? What is the road map for providing potable tap water to the masses? When will we have world-class infrastructure? When will we have interruption-free electricity? When will any political party fulfil the promises made in their manifesto?
Latika
14-Aug-09 04:06 PM -- I wouldn't say that.
I mean I wouldn't come to any conclusion too soon...
India was progressing at a very fast rate for last ten years in spite of reservation, corruption & politicians & conservative outlook.
I can just say that this might be one of those stagnation periods where nothing happens.
We just have to wait and watch.
Tarun Mundhra
14-Aug-09 04:06 PM -- It was progressing very well and would have been amongst the top nations of the world but now with these new senas coming up and attacking the women, freedom of rights is now slowly been taken away from women, this is a great hurdle in the path of progress and prosperity.
Its not just one incident but quite a few liking burning newly born baby girls in some village of India.
Wherefore progress.
Sumit
14-Aug-09 04:04 PM -- I dont think so,Indian man always let the woman on his feet since the ancient times.so the reason for incident is CONTROLLING WOMEN,nothing else.
As you can see indians, where these damn hooglians attack, the woman is present there. They just want woman to be sati.
You agree or disagree, that would not bother this booming india...Someday we will see the indian taliban in our developed india,so the story ends from where it starts.Just wait n watch politicians.
And this is not my verdict.this is the verdict of all indian newspapers
What you think so?..

14-Aug-09 04:01 PM -- We went wrong in finding the proper order of things.we have a 100 million plus
literate labour force, and we need jobs for them. So first we need foreign
manufactures to start their production from here. But this needs power, I mean
electricity, not muscle power or voter power ,so we should have started with a
lot of power plants ;of course there were Enron and Cogentrix, but they never took
off. Why? Because we insisted that our SEB & should be the intermediary between
Enron and the consumers,SEB with all their "transmission losses" of 22%free
electricity to farmers, huts and politicians, and inefficiency. Compare the
transmission losses of BSES, the private company which supplies uninterrupted
and stable power to Bombay city. Transmission losses of BSES is very low
compared to that of SEBs. Highly efficient and cost effective. It would be wonderful,
if we have a similar set up all over India.
