Former Haryana director general of police (DGP) SPS Rathore who is being charged for molesting teenager Ruchika Girhotra and hounding her till she killed herself, sought pre arrest bail on Wednesday. The district and sessions court hearing the case rejected the appeal made by former top cop. District Sessions judge S P Singh ruled that the anticipatory bail application moved by Rathore will be taken up on the next hearing of the case on January 1. He has asked Rathore's lawyer to submit all documents in the court on the next hearing. Rathore's wife Abha – who is also his lawyer -- pleaded to give interim bail to the former director general of Haryana police. She claimed that her husband was being targeted due to media coverage of the case. Earlier in the day, Rathore reached the Panchkula court carrying a file in his hands with his wife. The two fresh FIRs have been registered against him charging him for attempt to murder and wrongful confinement. In contrast to his smiling face on December 21 when he was convicted for molesting Ruchika, Rathore on Wednesday kept a straight face and avoided answering the questions made by reporters. Seeing the outcry and anger of public about molestation and death of Ruchika, Former Haryana DGP was seen wearing an olive green jacket over a sky blue shirt and a navey blue tie. The government has now ordered a fresh probe into the Ruchika molestation case and may also charge Rathore with abetment to suicide. Ruchika, a budding tennis player, committed suicide by drinking poison three years after the molestation incident as Rathore allegedly kept hounding her and her family, including the slapping of false criminal cases against her brother. Rathore's six-month jail sentence for molestation and the Rs 1,000 fine was announced 19 years after the incident
