The International Maritime Bureau informed on Tuesday that two ships have been hijacked by pirates in the Gulf of Aden of Somalia. Spokesman for the Maritime Bureau, Michael Howlett informed that the UK-flagged chemical tanker St. James Park, with 23 crew members aboard, was attacked at 14:49 UTC Monday (9:49 a.m. ET). The crew members include - Bulgarians, Filipinos, Georgians, Indians, Poles, Romanians, Russians, Turks and Ukrainians, the EU naval force said. After the vessel sent a distress signal, a warship from Task Force 151 contacted the ship and confirmed that it had been overtaken by pirates. The St. James Park started its journey on Sunday. The EU naval force is monitoring the situation and trying to track the location of the ship. A second vessel, the Navios Apollon bulk carrier, sailing under Panamanian flag having 19 crew members, was attacked at 18:47 UTC Monday and was also seized in the Gulf of Aden of Somalia. Maritime Bureau Spokesperson informed that the Navios Apollon is owned by a Greek company but didn't disclose its name because of the organization's policy. The Bureau had no immediate information about the ships' cargo or destinations.
